3 places we’d book as Dubai’s dining season returns this September

September is when Dubai’s dining scene begins to feel busy again. After the slower pace of summer, restaurants start filling up, evenings become more social and long lunches and destination dinners gradually return to the calendar.

The weather may still be warm, but the shift into a new season is already underway. From established favourites to places worth revisiting for their setting, atmosphere and food, these are three venues we’d book as Dubai’s dining season returns this September.

Iliāna

Cuisine

Greek

Location

Jumeirah Marsa al Arab

Best For

Beachfront lunches, sunset dinners and date nights.

Why Now

As Dubai’s dining scene starts picking up again after summer, Iliāna is an easy one to return to for its Greek-led menu, beachfront setting and views towards Burj Al Arab. It works particularly well in September, when longer lunches and more social evenings start making their way back onto the calendar.

What To Expect

Inspired by the Greek islands, Iliāna brings a relaxed Mykonian feel to Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, with a menu centred around fresh Mediterranean flavours and produce-led cooking. Expect house-made dips, mezze and salads alongside chargrilled octopus, grilled fish, lamb chops and moussaka, followed by Greek-inspired desserts. The experience is designed for sharing, with polished service and a setting that works equally well for a long lunch, a relaxed dinner or a more social evening by the water.

Insider Tip

Book later in the afternoon and let lunch carry into the evening, when the beachfront setting comes into its own. If you are planning another visit later in the season, the Rooftop Lounge is set to return in November with cocktails, shisha and music.

Cetara

Cuisine

Italian / Mediterranean

Location

Address Downtown

Best For

Long lunches, date nights and Downtown views.

Why Now

Cetara suits the point in the season when Dubai starts easing back into longer evenings and more destination-led dining. The restaurant moves naturally from its contemporary interiors onto an open-air terrace, making it easy to start with dinner and stay on for drinks as the city lights come into view.

What To Expect

Drawing on the flavours of southern Italy, Cetara centres its menu around handmade pasta, seafood and dishes from the grill, alongside Italian wines and signature cocktails. Natural textures and a light coastal palette keep the interiors relaxed, while the terrace shifts the mood firmly back to Downtown Dubai with skyline views and a more energetic evening setting. It works equally well for lunch or dinner, though later bookings make the most of the transition from daylight into the city after dark.

Insider Tip

Book for early evening and request a terrace table. Arriving around golden hour gives you the best of both settings, with time to settle in over dinner before staying outside for drinks and the Downtown views.

Gigi Rigolatto

Cuisine

Italian

Location

J1 Beach, Jumeirah

Best For

Beach days, long lunches, sunset drinks and group plans.

Why Now

As Dubai starts moving back into its busier season, Gigi Rigolatto works particularly well for plans that extend beyond a single meal. Its mix of restaurant, garden, private pool, beach and Bellini Bar means the experience can move easily from a relaxed afternoon into drinks and dinner without ever feeling too structured.

What To Expect

Gigi brings a polished Italian beach-house feel to J1 Beach, combining classic Italian dining with a more lifestyle-led setting. The restaurant is joined by a lush garden, private pool, beach, cabanas and Bellini Bar, giving the venue much more of a day-to-night rhythm than a traditional restaurant booking. Lunch can easily become an afternoon by the water, followed by cocktails and dinner as the pace shifts into the evening.

Insider Tip

Go later in the afternoon and give yourself time to stay. Start by the pool or beach, move to the Bellini Bar towards sunset, then keep dinner for afterwards; Gigi works best when the experience unfolds over a few hours rather than a quick meal.
