The French Riviera has long been one of Europe’s most sought-after destinations, attracting artists, celebrities and well-travelled visitors since the 19th century. Stretching along the Mediterranean from Menton near the Italian border towards Toulon, the region takes in some of the South of France’s most iconic locations, including Nice, Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Antibes and Monaco.

Summer, particularly from late May to August, is the busiest time to visit, with warm temperatures, lively beaches, major events and a high-season atmosphere. Expect the Riviera at its most glamorous, but also at its most expensive. For fewer crowds and better rates, April to June and September to October are ideal, offering milder weather and more space to explore the region’s old towns, coastal walks, galleries and historic sites. Winters are mild and much quieter, with cultural events such as Nice Carnival bringing energy to the low season. The main airport for the region is Nice Côte d’Azur Airport – best for international flights.

Saint-Tropez
