Ula, Palm Jumeirah
22 September 2025
On Palm Jumeirah’s shoreline, Ula leans into laid-back Mediterranean living with Dubai polish. Breezy, boho-luxe design meets beach access and skyline views, creating a setting that moves effortlessly from day to night. Come for a sunlit lunch, a golden-hour spritz, or dinner that lingers. The crowd spans couples, groups, and beach regulars – while service is efficient but unfussy, leaving you to enjoy a leisurely afternoon without constant interruption.
THE VENUE
Beachfront tables and barefoot ease set the tone, with uninterrupted Gulf views on Palm Jumeirah. Airy interiors spill onto a large terrace where pale wood, woven textures, and earthy tones feel natural rather than staged. Cushioned banquettes, sail-shade umbrellas, and olive trees set the tone outside, while the steps down to the beach offer easy access for daytime lounging and swims.
Expect a mix of international travellers and local regulars – some from the neighbouring Dukes The Palm, while others are after a working lunch. The playlist sits low, lighting stays dim, and atmosphere relaxed from day to night. The team reads the room, guiding when needed and stepping back when not- the result is unpushy service that lets the setting do the work.
THE MENU
The menu draws the Mediterranean through sharing plates and wood-fire signatures. Seasonal produce, open-flame cooking, and comfort classics with smart tweaks keep things familiar but fresh. Plates arrive designed to share, paced for conversation, and finished with the kind of precision that rewards return visits. Timing is thoughtful and consistently unhurried.
The drinks menu? Think beach-day drinking done well: crisp spritzes, pale rosé, and classic cocktails that arrive cold and consistent. Signatures are few and focused, built to match the Mediterranean plates. There’s a clear non-alc section, plus a long list of coffee if you’re closing with dessert.
STARTERS
- Baked Feta Dip
- Patatas Bravas
- Tiger Prawns
We opened with a tight trio while waiting for our mains. The baked feta arrived full of flavour with warm bread for dipping. The patatas bravas had crisp edges and soft centres, paired with a smoky aioli. The tiger prawns were lightly charred, juicy, and bright with citrus – pulling the plate together – and the perfect pairing for our other carb-loaded choices.
Quick to the table and easy to share, the portions were generous and the plating clean, which made the table feel sociable from the start. Service was sharp on the practicals – with extra plates and top-ups when needed. A simple, well-judged start that set the pace for the rest of the meal.
MAINS
- Duck Carbonara
- Tomahawk Steak
- Truffle Pasta
- Woodfire Mixed Grill (Chicken, Lamb, Beef, Greek Fries & Tzatziki)
For the mains we did our best to cover all bases – pasta, steak, and mixed grill. The duck carbonara was rich, well-seasoned, and coated the pasta without clag. The tomahawk arrived with a proper crust and an even medium-rare; carving was straightforward and rested juices were in check. The truffle pasta stayed silky and aromatic without turning dense – a great dish for sharing if your just looking for a few bites between a few.
For groups, the mixed grill is the move: flame-kissed chicken, lamb, and beef with Greek fries and cooling tzatziki. It fills the table, divides easily, and keeps everyone involved without needing extra mains. The best part? nothing felt over-worked or over-sauced. However if your looking to add sauce, you need only ask!
DESSERTS
- Baked Salt Caramel Tart
- Mascarpone & Honey
- Chocolate Dome
For dessert we went for another trio. The caramel tart hit that sweet-salt spot with a clean bake and short pastry; easy to share and not too sickly. Mascarpone with honey was lighter, floral, and a good reset if you’ve gone big on the grill (like we did).
The chocolate dome added a bit of theatre to the end of the meal. Crack, spoon, done – rich but balanced, and it pairs nicely with coffee or something cold on the side. The perfect end to a pretty perfect lunch with friends.
DRINKS
- Hugo Spritz (Arrival Cocktail)
- Eau de Provence (Rosé Wine – During Dinner)
- Espresso Martinis (Dessert & End of Evening)
The drinks framed the evening from start to finish. The Hugo Spritz was the perfect welcome – refreshing, vibrant, and celebratory. During dinner, the crisp Eau de Provence rosé complemented the Mediterranean flavours beautifully. To close, Espresso Martinis brought both indulgence and energy, perfectly bridging dessert and after-dinner conversation.
At Ula, drinks aren’t just pairings; they are integral to the flow of the experience. From first sip to last, each drink complements the mood and rhythm of the evening, served from the stunning outdoor bar.
THE EXPERIENCE
The atmosphere at Ula evolves as the hours pass. What begins as coastal calm under the afternoon sun gradually shifts into a vibrant, buzzing night-time scene. Service remains attentive and approachable, with staff guiding guests through food highlights and perfect pairings.
The crowd reflects the energy of the space: couples at intimate tables, groups celebrating milestones, and friends gathered for post work (or beach) drinks. The best time to arrive is golden hour, when the transition between day and night captures the venue at its most magical. It’s an experience that feels both relaxed and elevated.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Ula is more than just a restaurant; it’s a destination that brings together food, drink, and beachfront living. From spritzes at sunset to sharing mains and indulgent desserts, every element is designed to leave a sense of laid-back luxury and beachside charm.
For couples, groups, or anyone seeking a taste of the Mediterranean in Dubai, Ula delivers with ease. It is a place to return to time and again, not just for the flavours, but for the lifestyle it represents – a celebration of dining and connection.
